Woon Gallery of Asian Art Collections

Here are some of the objects on display at the Woon Gallery of Asian Art.

A Mask of a Ferocious Deity, Nepal, about 1701 - 1900 AD. Copyright: Woon Foundation
Masks were and are used for tantric ritual dances in Nepal, Tibet and the Himalayan region. Those with fierce-looking faces are used particularly to defeat evil. This mask with a turquoise urna on the forehead (symbolising the third eye) and round earrings shows the influence of the Sakya Sect.
